April is Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness
Month.
This subject is something that should not even exist because it should not be something that has even crossed the minds of any person ever but it does exist and it is something that needs to be talked about not just for one month but forever until this tragedy is alleviated through the fear of sever repercussions. April was first declared Sexual Assault Awareness Month in 2001 (nctsn.org, 2018). Sexual Violence happens to people of all religions, ages, races, professions, sexual orientations, and ethnicities so no one is safe to let their guard down when it comes to this subject(nctsn.org, 2018).
In 2015, it was reported that 57,286 cases of child sexual abuse and an estimated 680,000 children were victimized by child abuse. 1,670 children died as a result of abuse and neglect according to The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (nctsn.org, 2018). As a community, as a neighbor, as a human being we have to find a way to work together to prevent these things from happening. I know there is no easy solution but there has to be a way to make those that would think of committing such heinous acts terrified of acting upon the thought.
No matter how rich, poor, powerful, or helpless they may be.
No matter if they have suffered in the past or want to see what it was like out of curiosity. This has to stop! We have to stop being afraid of those would be bullies that stop every man, woman, and child from being able to fully flourish in this world by limiting their God given right to be free, creative, and prosperous. Humans are the only creators that have taken what God has given us freely and put a price, limit, and restriction on such things as land, food, and water. Now in that thirst for power children have been added to the menu. This has to stop and the only way it can is if we all stand together to make it stop. Don’t be afraid to help those that need help because true courage is acting in the face of fear.
